Meet the boss
My name is Les Blackmore. I am a local lad born and bred in Cheltenham.
From an early age I always had an interest in food. Watching my Mum pluck and joint a pheasant and skinning rabbits; making pastry at the age of 4 gave me the urge to cook more. Instead of woodwork at school I chose cooking and passed my exam and met a lot of girls in with the bargain.
After I left school I went to work as a chef in Tewkesbury where, with the teaching of the Head Chef, and a catering course at college in Cheltenham I passed my City in Guilds in Catering. Not of Gordon Ramsey standard but I do know how to swear!!
From there I went on my travels and moved into Hotel Management and running pubs all of which had catering outlets with me in them.
I grew tired and disillusioned with it all and drifted into sales and thats where I stayed for 20 years moving from insurance to cars to finance to fonts, but always a pilot light on for food.
A chance meeting in a pub ignited the will and I bought Scoffers in October 2006. The rest, as they say, is the future.
